Escape from Monkey Island Windowed Mode: My Experience and Solutions

As a fan of classic point-and-click adventure games, I was excited to relaunch Escape from Monkey Island using GOG Galaxy without any additional command line arguments. However, I quickly discovered that the game would automatically change my screen resolution to 640 x 480, which is not ideal for multitasking or streaming.

To mitigate this issue, I changed my monitor resolution to 800 x 600 before launching the game. Unfortunately, this did not improve the situation, and the game still played in a windowed mode with a resolution of 640 x 480.

I then tried using dgvoodoo to run the game in windowed mode, which allowed me to change my monitor resolution back to 800 x 600 after the game launched. However, this solution was not ideal, as it required manual adjustments and did not provide the best possible experience.

In an attempt to find a better solution, I explored other options, including using ScummVM's development build and the EMI launcher. Unfortunately, these attempts were unsuccessful, with the game either failing to launch or experiencing buggy behavior.

I have attached screenshots of my exact dgVoodoo and compatibility settings for reference. If anyone has found a way to get Escape from Monkey Island running in windowed mode at a higher resolution than 640 x 480, I would be grateful to hear about it.

In the meantime, I will continue to use the workaround involving dgvoodoo and manual monitor resolution adjustments, but I hope that someone may find a more elegant solution in the future.
